Interview with David Grotto R.D., author of the book The Best Things You Can Eat

Mike Carruthers:
Incorporating certain foods can make your diet much healthier. In particular…

David Grotto R.D.:
Anything that ends in “erry” whether that be; blueberry, strawberry, raspberry, cherry, pomegranate “erry” anything that’s kind of blue, purple, red in color.

Registered Dietician David Grotto R.D., author of the book The Best Things You Can Eat, says those foods may possess…

These special anthocyanins which is a group of phytochemicals that may tell cancer cells not to wake up, kind of remain dormant and not communicate with some of their brother and sister cancer cells if you will – to give the signal to spread. So that’s very exciting research.

If you need to fight bad breath…

Yogurt and cherries have to be on the list. In fact both of them have particular substances that may fight that bacteria that not only just lodges in the back of the tongue (by the way that’s where a lot of that bacteria occurs where a lot of people don’t get to with their good oral hygiene) and that maybe causing bad breath. Green tea would be another great food that helps fight bad breath.

And to keep looking younger David says prunes can help.

There’s a substance in prunes called psoralen, don’t worry about writing it down or even pronouncing it. But know that this phytochemical may actually slow down wrinkling of skin and support collagen for making that skin more firm and youthful in appearance.
